Darwin Curtis Fund Grant Program (2013-14)

The USCA is proud to announce that the organization was selected to administer the Darwin Curtis Fund grant program on behalf of The Chicago Community Trust again for the 2013-14 season. The Darwin Curtis Fund was established to “support and encourage participation by the general public in the sport of curling …” Curling clubs with 501(c)(3) not-for-profit status, as well as other 501(c)(3) organizations looking to grow the sport, are encouraged to apply for funding. Grant applications will be accepted in two categories: Growth & Development and Bricks & Mortar. Funding requests can range from $1,000 to $20,000, with a total of $20,000 to be distributed during the 2013-2014 grant cycle. Clubs that received grant support during the 2012-13 funding cycle will not be eligible during 2013-14.

If you are interested in applying for funding through this program, please complete the attached application. All application materials must be submitted in full by 5 p.m. CDT on Friday, June 14, 2013 to be considered. May 1 is deadline for 2013 USOC grants available to athlete scholars

Upcoming 2012-2013 application deadlines:  May 1, 2013 - August 1, 2013 (Tuition Grant only) - December 1, 2013

The United States Olympic Committee offers tuition assistance and legacy grants to qualifying top active athletes, retired athletes, and on occasion, coaches, enrolled in an accredited degree- or certificate-granting program at an academic institution of higher learning. USOC Tuition Grants cover tuition and mandatory fees only, and do not cover books, room and board charges, or parking fees. Legacy Grants can be used for tuition, fees, books, room and board, as well as expenses associated with on-line courses. Please read the USOC "Tuition Grant Guidelines" document and the grant application form for details.

Please note that the Tuition Grant application process is much more competitive than the Legacy Grant application process simply due to the number of athletes applying for each. Tuition Grant awards are traditionally considered for those applicants who have a current top-8 Olympic Games/Paralympic Games/World Championships placement or world ranking.  With this in mind, if you are an athlete who qualifies for both, we encourage you to submit an application for a Legacy Grant.

Because USA Curling must review and certify each application and then forward it to the USOC, please send your completed documents to USA Curling so that they're received in time for us to meet the USOC's deadline. Applications can be sent to USA Curling via email ( This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ) or mail (Sandy Robinson, USA Curling, 5525 Clem's Way, Stevens Point, WI 54482). Questions? Contact Sandy Robinson, 888-287-5377, Ext. 205.
