Training clinic features Olympians, world champions |
|
On Sept. 25-26, 2010, the Schenectady Curling Club hosts Team USA members Nicole Joraanstad and Natalie Nicholson along with Craig Savill and Brent Laing of Canada’s Team Glenn Howard to teach curlers the techniques and finer points of sweeping, timing rocks, communication, body mechanics and mental preparation to compete at the highest level. Curlers will also have the privilege of learning from Canadian hall of fame player, Neil Harrison who is two-time World Champion and coach of Patti Lank’s USA Olympic Trials team. Harrison is considered by many to be the world’s greatest lead as well as a master game strategist who will add to the breadth of the instruction with on-ice and classroom sessions.
According to a recent observation by Curling Power, “Curling success at higher levels is about so much more than just throwing the rock well … strategy and game-planning can truly be the difference between winning or losing a bonspiel.” People with novice through advanced curling abilities are welcome to join on either Saturday or Sunday as groups will be formed by skill level. Cost of the clinic is $175 for a full day of training, Saturday 8:30- 4:30 p.m. or Sunday 8-4 p.m. that includes lunch and a reception with the celebrities on Saturday evening.
The PREPARE TO WIN! Curling Clinic is sponsored and organized by Brooms Up Curling Supplies, www.broomsupcurling.com. |
