PERSONAL FILE
Curls out of: Granite Curling Club, Seattle
Curling start: "I began curling in my sophomore year of high school. Bret Nordlund, our team's vice skip, was a longtime of mine and an avid curler from a young age. He was seeking to put together a team and managed to convince Jon Chartrand and I to try to pick it out. After a shaky second year we picked up Chris Pleasants and the rest is history."
What he enjoys most about curling: "If I was to choose what I love most about curling it would have to be sweeping. Nothing is more rewarding than 'pulling' a stone into the house."
Curling goals: "My goals regarding curling are of the most ambitious kind. I hope to stick with my team until we win Nationals, and years down the road, Worlds. Our team has the time, friendship, and commitment to go all the way."
Curling strengths: "Among my personal strengths is a sense of humor that never lets the team get down. I also regard myself as the takeout king and maintain the highest shooting percentage on the team."
Hobbies: "One notable hobby is a team favorite, competitive chess. In elementary school Chris Pleasants and I played against each other often culminating in us as co-champions of the state in our sixth grade (K-6 division, 1997). After we unknowingly met at the curling club and created our team, the chess battle raged on. In 2004, Jon, Bret and I played for Issaquah High School, and in the state tournament we took on Chris's Garfield High School team. Our teams placed second and third that year. Jon, Bret and I also share a love for ultimate Frisbee. We play at an Issaquah field every Friday with our friends."
