Curls out of: Belfast Curling Club
Curling start: "My mother discovered curling on Canadian
TV and recommended it to me and my husband. We actually went to one draw at the
Olympics in Nagano before we joined the Broomstones Curling Club in
Massachusetts. Once we started playing we were hooked. We then moved to Maine
and even though we have a long drive to the Belfast Curling Club, it's worth
it."
Favorite part about curling: "The camaraderie. I switched
to curling from ice hockey and I love the friendly competition. No one's out to
hurt you; we all just want to do our best."
Curling goals: "To play as well and consistently as I
personally can. To encourage proper play and etiquette so that all curlers can enjoy the
game."
Something unique: "I lived in Japan for three years in the
early 1990s. Two years outside of Matsumoto in Nagano Prefecture, and one year
outside of Nagoya in Aichi Prefecture. I learned Japanese during my first two
years while writing English manuals for computers. My last year I translated
manuals for factory machines from Japanese to English."
Major achievement not related to curling: "My husband and
I built our dream home and moved to Maine in 2004."
Hobbies: Knitting, reading, golf, nature, traveling, pets,
computers, and enjoying our lake
Favorite place to travel: "Norway and Switzerland are the
most beautiful countries -- my husband proposed to me on the shore of Lake
Luzern."
Club affiliations: Waterville Area Newcomers Club
