Curls out of:
Granite Curling
Club, Seattle, Wash.
Curling start:
"Born and raised on Minnesota’s Iron Range. Introduced to curling by my three
older brothers (Greg, Rod, Dan). My first memories of curling are of the old
Buhl, Minn., curling club - curling in Sorrel boots with a slip-on half slider
(yes, I was a tucker), four-feet of negative ice, 16 second draws (just a guess,
we didn’t use stop watches then) and there was actually a wind chill factor when
you slid out of the hack.
Favorite aspect of your sport: 1)
When I first started curling, what really intrigued me the most was the fact
that you could play against other juniors one day and national and world
champions the next. 2) The feeling you get when the entire team is executing and
playing their role. 3) The camaraderie of fellow curlers and the friendships
I’ve made in over 30 years of curling. 4) Most of all I enjoy competing and
traveling with good friends and family members. I’ve competed in World and
National Championships with my best friends, men’s Nationals with my brother,
Mixed Nationals with my wife and the Olympic playdowns with my three brothers.
This year my son (6) has played with us in league play. Now if I could just
teach Goldie how to curl…
Goals in
curling: "To compete on a top-level team that respects each other’s
abilities and enjoys playing together. The rest will take care of itself. If
it’s not fun, why do it?"
Hobbies: Doing what Luc likes to do - golfing, hiking,
biking, canoeing, camping, hunting, fishing, ice skating, sledding, skiing,
berry picking, boarding horses, playing with the dogs, and of course curling.
If you won a million dollars,
what would you do with it? "Enter the
playdowns for the World Team Trials."
Favorite place to travel: Alaska, British Columbia |
