About Shelly Pape:

In her own words: "I was born into a curling family, as both of my parents, Ken and Shirley Pape, were avid curlers at the Lodi (Wis.) Curling Club. I spent a lot of winters curling with my parents and my sister Lisa in numerous bonspiels around the area until they gave up playing. Living in Columbia County in Wisconsin provides many opportunities to curl quite a bit, as there are five active curling clubs within 20 miles or less of each other. I have continued to be a busy weekend curler, attending numerous bonspiels in the area, and have recently been curling in quite a few mixed events with my cousin (Hall of Fame member) George Godfrey."

First curling memories: "I began curling at a young age, as I tagged along with my parents to the club and filled in whenever teams were short of players, even in the men's leagues."

Began curling in earnest: "I officially began curling when I joined the high school team coached by Marilyn Noble in 1974. I continued curling after high school at the Lodi club, and have been a member ever since."

Other favorite sports: "Besides competing in curling, I also compete on a national level in slow pitch softball. I have been a member of a softball team that has competed at the ASA Class C or B Slow pitch Nationals."

Curling goals: "I have always had a desire to compete on a national/international curling level, but never quite found the opportunity to do so. I am hoping to fulfill that dream with this team that I am now a part of - with the ultimate goal of being Olympians."
