About Mary Jaster:

Curls out of: Grafton Curling Club

Curling start: "I was introduced to curling a bit in high school through the phy. ed program and an after-school league. I went to work for a doctor in Grand Forks after business college. When his wife found out I had curled a bit in high school she took me for a lunch break and on-ice trial at the Grand Forks Curling Club and I've been curling ever since. Thanks, Shirley!"

What she enjoys most about the sport: "I enjoy everything about the sport -- the finesse, the strategizing, and the teamwork but mostly the fact that it is a 'whole life' sport that I can play with family members and never be too old. I've had the pleasure of playing with my sister (Jody Tibert) in playdowns and bonspiels. I love to curl with my son, Joey, and club building events with by husband, Miles, and other son, Josh."

Curling goals: "My goals in curling include being a great teammate at any level of play, and a builder of the sport. I have met many unique people through curling and formed numerous friendships across the states and Canada, all of which I am so thankful and can only hope I can give something back to the great sport that has given so much to me. Nothing warms my heart more than running into kids with their parents around town and being identified as the 'lady that teaches curling.' Other goals include a senior championship and playing at the Mixed National Championship with my son."

Training regimen: "In addition to weekly league play and running the youth program at our club, I practice solo at least once a week and am an easy pick-up for practice games."

Hobbies: "Fishing with my husband, walking with our family dog -- Lady, biking, yard work, hanging out with girlfriends, and reading."
