About Keith Dropkin:
Curls out of: Broomstones Curling Club
Curling start: "My introduction to curling was in
1975 while a student at Union College in Schenectady, N.Y. Serving as athletic
director of my fraternity, Delta Chi, I was drawn to this odd rink and sport
that was built on ground level, under the new hockey stadium, as mandated by the
financial donor of the school's facility, Laurence Achilles, a longtime
supporter of curling."
What he enjoys most about the sport: "I enjoy the
camaraderie and competitive environment offered by the sport, especially at our
home club, Broomstones in Wayland, Mass., and my home-away-from-home, Belfast
(Maine) Curling Club."
Curling family: "My wife, Shelley has competed for
many years and skipped the Women's Club National Champion Massachusetts. My son,
Stephen, has been curling for 10 years
and made his first appearance at Junior Nationals in 2004. My younger son, Korey, age
10, is a true student of the game who loves to study
strategy and is certain to burst on to the national scene in the not too distant
future."
Other sports: "In addition, I've coached youth
soccer in both of our boys' age groups, indoors and outdoors, as well as run
a family soccer program in our town of Southborough during the summer. I played
soccer competitively and recreationally for 30 years."
"For relaxation in our rare quiet moments, I enjoy
fishing and boating at our small cabin on Great Pond in the Belgrade Lakes
region of Maine."
