About Kathy Cross:

Curls out of: Detroit Curling Club

Other sports: Rowing

Something unique: "I'm afraid to fly and actually haven't flown in 13 years but I'm going to have to get to Alaska for Nationals."

"I love squirrels and shoes."

Curling start: "No one else in my family curls. I grew up in the suburbs of Detroit where we watched curling on CBC. It was something I always wanted to do so I 'Googled' curling in Detroit and the Detroit Curling Club's website came up. I signed up for beginning curling, and I've been hooked ever since."

Curling goals: "I'd like to go as far as I can with curling. I came to the sport late in life -- I only started in the fall of 2004 at the age of 33 -- but that doesn't have to hinder my desire to play competitively."
