About Greg Duncan:

Curls out of: Houston Curling Club

Curling start: "I was watching the news on TV and they ran an article on curling."

Curling on arena ice: "We curled for years at the Galleria -- home of Tara Lipinski -- before moving this year to the Space City Arena. We curl for two hours a week from 9:30-11:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings. The ice is a major improvement this year. In the Galleria, we faced all kinds of problems with the ice such as 18' curls of negative ice, foundation problems so the rocks went up and down along the sheet, a Christmas tree placed on the ice that forced us to shorten our rinks by 20', humidity problems that caused condensation on overhead walkways that dripped on to the ice creating bumps of various sizes to suddenly appear, and worst of all in March and April sunshine hitting the ice and melting it. Now we have some foundation problems but the curl is 2-3' and usually positive. The zamboni can put ridges down the center of the rink if they don't run it down the center of the sheet for the final pass."

Favorite aspect of curling: "Being on something cold."

Curling goals: "To win a game in the National finals."

Hobbies: Music, songwriting, wine, Impressionist art, downhill skiing, whitewater rafting, hockey, Houston Astros, ice skating

If he won a million dollars, he would: "I would pay off my kids' college debts, buy a house, and retire. With the second million, I would build a curling club in Houston."

Something unique: "When my future mother-in-law heard that her daughter wanted to marry me, she said over my dead body and I said I could arrange that. Actually I met my wife over a cadaver in the anatomy lab. Also my grandmother was to be wed to an engineer on the Titanic. I was the only person in the theater to be happy that the Titanic sank."
