Curls out of: Milwaukee Curling Club
Curling start: "I started curling in the winter of 1997. My wife and I
were introduced to the sport by her father who had joined the Milwaukee Curling
Club the year before."
What he enjoys most about curling: "I enjoy the strategy and precision
of the game. I also like the fact that it is a team game but the overall success
of the team is based on the ability of teammates to individually do all of their
jobs correctly."
Other sports: "I enjoy all types of sports and games. I like the
thrill of competing and winning. I played college soccer and tennis and I am an
avid golfer now."
Curling goals: "My goals are to continue to test myself against better
competition and to become a consistent competitor on the state, regional and
national level."
Curling strengths: "I am very competitive with a will to win at
everything I do. I have become successful in curling in a short amount of time
because I consistently try to learn as much as I can. I'm not afraid to try
something new and I have the confidence that I can make any shot in any
circumstance."
Curling family: "I play in our club's mixed league with both my wife
and father-in-law. This year my wife will compete with us in mixed playdowns."
Hobbies: "I enjoy playing golf and soccer. My wife and I are wine
enthusiasts and we help our father-in-law run a wine-tasting club. I enjoy
watching all sports on TV and enjoy playing various board and card games."
Something unique: "I grew up in Florida and did not know what curling
was until I moved to Wisconsin in 1996. When I started curling in the winter of
1997 I fell in love with the sport immediately. Living in Florida I was used to
playing golf year-round. Curling helped pass the long, cold months of winter and
quenched my need for something competitive to do. My life has always revolved
around sports. Before moving to Wisconsin I worked for the United States Soccer
Federation where I worked with the various U.S. national teams. I draw upon my
experiences of teamwork, sportsmanship, and discipline that I learned in that
environment, and I try to instill that into my curling career."
