PERSONAL FILE

Dave enjoys the camaraderie of his teammates most.  He enjoys seeing old friends when the season rolls around, sharing old curling stories on long road trips, and participating in an activity that frees his mind of other competing stresses such as work, school and family.

IN HIS OWN WORDS:

First curling memories: "I began throwing rocks at the age of eight, and played in a men's league at the age of 11, at a time when children under12 were not allowed on the ice.  My parents curled a lot in Portage, Wisconsin; therefore, I was exposed to curling for my whole life.  In the 10th grade, I gave up the more mainstream sport of wrestling to concentrate on curling, much to my parent's joy.  I continued with football and baseball partially to keep the ridicule of being a curler to a minimum."

Education: Bachelor of Science - University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point - Paper Science and Engineering - 1986.  Currently working on Masters of Science in Finance and Investments at the University of Wisconsin - Madison.

Training: "In the off-season I run three times a week and lift weights once a week. During the season I run once a week, weight train once a week, and practice on the ice three times a week."

Hobbies: "Curling, fitness, and investing."

Career goals: "National Championship, Olympic berth."

Curling strengths: "Sweeping, take-out game."

Something unique: "I was actually conceived during the "Honey Spiel" spring mixed bonspiel in Pardeeville, so I'm known to some as 'Pardeeville Dave.'" Dave also recorded an 8-ender in 1995.
