CURLING HIGHLIGHTS

PERSONAL FILE
Curls out of: NGA Curling Club

Curling start: "I started curling in 1980 after moving from Montreal to Toronto and could not find a football team to play on so I tried curling and got hooked like most of us."

What he enjoys most about curling: "As curlers we are extremely lucky as we get to play a terrific game and get to meet people from all over the world that become your friends for life."

Curling family: "My entire family (wife and two kids) started curling a year or two or three after me and each of them have won Ontario Provincial Championships -- leaving me as the only one not to have done this."

Curling goals: "A few years ago my goals for curling as a player became very simple -- have more fun than you are allowed to have and playing many games and bonspiels with Ray Finlay allowed me to do this in spades. After coaching lacrosse for years I began coaching curling in 1992, first with juniors and now ladies, and my goals have always been to help people achieve their dreams and realize their goals and have a lot of fun doing it. Nothing makes me happier than to see player I coach or have coached or worked with in the past do as well at this game."

Other sports: Golf

Career goals: "After working for the past 36 years in the flexographic printing industry, the last 19 running my own company and having traveled the globe, I am looking forward to later this year when I retire and concentrate on golf, coaching curling and writing my book."

Something unique: "I have been told that I dress funny when I curl or golf and can't quite understand why. Maybe it is all the red. I also lately have been asked by many people if I am Wilford Brimley and even had my picture taken with two ladies in Chicago who wanted to show their friends they had their picture taken with a well known movie start. I guess old Wilford is better than no one but I would have preferred to be mistaken for Brad Pitt."
