Curling start: "Winter of 1973 at New Rosewell Elementary School in Winnipeg. Playing at recess and lunch on a half sheet outside with jam pails filled with cement. The hardest thing was throwing it without it tipping over."

Curling family: Daughter Amanda plays second for Team Sormunen

Curling goals: "Get better every year and teach my skip to sweep, ha ha."
