About Amy Wright:

Amy met her husband, Tim (1985 U.S. national champion) through the sport of curling.

First curling memories: "I started curling at a four-sheet club in Eveleth, Minn. My parents both curled, as did my two older brothers. We all did the "Joe Roberts Full Tuck." I used to watch my Dad curl in the "old" Duluth Curling Club when I was only 2 to 3 years old. In other words, I grew up in a curling club.

Hobbies: Music, reading, most outdoor or water sports

Training: "I practice shooting on my own every day during the season, sometimes two times a day. I usually compete or practice with my team two or three weekends per month."

Other favorite sports: Water-skiing, canoeing, karate -- Amy has a black belt in karate.

What I'd like the world to know about curling: "What I enjoy most about the sport of curling is the people. I've taken a couple of years off over the years (usually because of a job or family), but have always come back because I have missed the people."

Curling family: "My entire family curled when I was growing up. My uncle, Jim Hatten, even designed and marketed a board game of curling called "Sweep." It was sold in departments stores and Target stores. My kids are now into the sport and play leagues with my husband and I as well as participate in the DCC junior curling program."
