About Aileen Sormunen:

How I got started in curling: "I started curling because of my dad. He took me to the club when I was young and I had fun. I have curled since then."

What she enjoys most about curling: "The things I enjoy most about curling is the people and the skills that it takes. It is such a team sport and each little thing makes a huge difference so it is really exciting. And all of the people are so nice. I've met people from all over the world and everyone has been very friendly."

Other sports: "Besides curling, I play softball and also enjoy getting groups of friends together to play other recreational sports."

Curling goals: "My goal for the future is to go to Worlds with my current team."

Something unique: "I was born on Friday the 13th under a full moon."

Strange curling moment: "The strangest curling experience I have had was at Junior Nationals two years ago when I got sick with stomach flu and started throwing up during a game. I then managed to get at least seven other people sick including two of my teammates and the head housekeeper at the hotel we stayed at. Our team had to play short-handed for about half of the round robin games and still managed to win them."
