1. Call to order
President Anderson called the meeting to order at 1:07pm. He reminded the committee that
they had received background information about the eligibility issues to be discussed.
2. Eligibility issue
The committee has been asked if a specific suspended athlete can compete in the National
Mens Club Championship? The Executive Committee interpretation, by consensus, is
that the athlete is not eligible to compete in the 2001 National Mens Club
Championship.
3. Eligibility issue regarding U.S. residence and eligibility
An athlete has asked for a waiver from a USCA Rules Committee Ruling, which rendered him
ineligible for competition this season on the basis that he did not meet the U.S.
residency requirement. The Grievance Review Committee reviewed the request, and decided
not to propose granting a waiver to this committee. Motion by Rich, Fenson second, to
deny the request for a waiver. Approved unanimously.
4. Other business
a. Quarterly financials
-- Higgins asked the committee to review the current USCA financial statement.b. USOC board meeting
-- McNelly and Hatch reviewed the recent USOC election results.c. Internet collaborative
-- Garber reported status of the Internet Collaborative.d. Olympic planning
-- Anderson briefed the group on an Olympic planning meeting scheduled for January 15 at OHare. The USOCs Chris Vadala and a USCA working group will attend.e. 2002 USCA Olympic pin
-- Draper reported on the 2002 Olympic Pin marketing program, and the proposal to provide 2002 Olympic and World tickets as prizes for Olympic pin buyers.f. Junior womens nationals team entries
-- Fenson reported that three or four regions do not have junior womens teams to send to the 2001 Nationals (NE, IL, GL). He asked for comments. Fenson and Hatch proposed filling to eight teams (not ten), based on number of playdown entries. Swisshelm asked if filling to ten would enhance interest in participation. Anderson referred this to Fenson for further study and a proposal.g. WCF Oberstdorf meeting results
-- Garber reported for Lowe. The USCA has been awarded a substantial WCF grant to fund a television production. The Host Committee has agreed to pay airfares for the U.S. teams at the 2001 World Junior Championships.5. Meeting adjourned at 1:45 p.m.
