Position statement:
The Site Selection Committee
proactively assesses championship sites for all categories.
It is the intent of the committee to equitably and fairly
distribute championship events throughout the U.S. allowing
any suitable club to host a championship. The committee will
make every effort to contact suitable clubs to schedule
events five years out with a minimum three-year horizon.
When selecting sites for the
USCA Championships, the USCA considers many things such as
geography, logistics, club size and shape, etc. The USCA
requires the following primary criteria:
All playdowns and
championships (regional and national):

Ability to achieve the
Field of Play standards (4X4) +-.5

Facility must have at
least four contiguous sheets (five for the men's and
women's combined Trials)

Good quality, matched
rocks that meet the USCA Field of Play standard

Physical plant (ice
equipment and climate) must be controllable

Ice must be flooded three
to seven days before the championship

Ice King or equivalent
must be available for scraping

Scraping after each draw
preferable, each morning mandatory

Sheet dimensions must
meet WCF minimum criteria

Smoke free on and off the
ice during the event
World Team Trials
events only:

Potential for television
coverage and television setup

Event ice technician
contract secured and controlled by the USCA Field of
Play Committee

Local icemaker may have
to relinquish ice-making responsibilities

Facility must have Jet
Ice or equivalent

Dedicated athlete drug
testing area (post event only)

Site must be reasonable
accessible to athletes
